All manner of this and that.

Rehearsals with The Crow Bone Chorus have been going very well indeed, with some covers added to the mix. They’re sounding good and fit well with the set. There’s already enough material there to play as long a set as is needed with a varied set list from gig-to-gig. We’ve also started work on a demo which will likely be a YouTube/Soundcloud only kind of a thing.

While there’ll be a self-promoted gig or two announced very soon, we’re also looking for a booker to help us out (particularly with gigs further afield). Although I intend to concentrate my efforts on full band gigs, The Craig Hughes Two will soon be back up to speed for more stripped-back live work. A couple more rehearsals and we should be there.

I’m also having thoughts on a maybe-kinda acoustic-ish project, a solo thing. More on that when I’ve clued myself in!

Guitarsenal …

That’s my guitars all ready (ish) for future Craig Hughes & The Crow Bone Chorus endeavours. All we need now are the fucking gigs to play them at.

Ner ner ner, ner ner ner-ner, ner ner ner, ner ner.

Time to start back into the world, specifically of live music.  I’ll be playing an afternoon showcase gig with The Crow Bone Chorus at The Audio Lounge in Glasgow on Saturday, May 5th.  Special guest will be me old mucker Jim Dead.  Looking forward to it.

More details to come, though despite the title of this post, I can already confirm that we will not in fact be playing Smoke on the Water.

Tiptoe Through the Triffids

Well, there you go. No matter how daintily you tiptoe through life, it’ll still give you an unexpected kick in the cock just to remind you who’s boss. And so, due to ill health, plans for live work for the rest of 2017 have had to be shelved. Hopefully we’ll pick up where we left off in late January or February of next year.  On a cheerier note, the “Craig Hughes & The Crow Bone Chorus” rehearsals are carrying on regardless. They’re sounding rather good too.

For the same reasons as above, plans for the Off the Cuff EP release have also changed. However, rather than leave it until next year, we’ve opted to put it out for download/streaming as a Bandcamp exclusive as of Friday, December 1st. A physical release and full digital distribution will follow in March 2018. Ish.  Full details on the Bandcamp release will be up here in the next day or two. Please do check back.

Introducing … The Crow Bone Chorus.

The Crow Bone Chorus

With our first rehearsal under our belts (and a good one at that) , I’m happy to say that my erstwhile band mates in Dog Moon Howl, Bryan Campbell and Ally Tennick, are joining me in a new project: Craig Hughes & The Crow Bone Chorus.  We’ll soon be bringing new music to a venue near you, by which I mean a venue near us, as well as selections from my studio releases and more besides. The plan is now to record and release my next album, which I’ve mentioned here before, under the Craig Hughes & The Crow Bone Chorus banner.  The album is unlikely to be underway before early 2018 but we should be playing our first gigs before the end of this year.

The Craig Hughes Two

The Craig Hughes Two is about to be resurrected on the live scene after a year’s layoff for heavy rocking purposes.  We’ll be gigging again from Sept/Oct with our new mini-album to flog.

I’ll be posting regular “work in progress” updates here from now on, so do watch this space.
